Explanation:
In medicine, we talk about "un foyer infectieux" to say where the infection is located ("foyer infectieux pulmonaire ou urinaire...", "éradiquer les foyers infectieux latents", "fièvre sans foyer infectieux retrouvé"...). It may be used in cancerology to say where the disease started, or where it has spread. "Foyer" is also the place where you put your stethoscope to listen to heart beats ("foyers auscultatoires").

agree  DouglasCarnall: Perfectly good translation. Back in the day I used to write BS N (breath sounds normal) or N AE (normal air entry) to convey this idea.

  -> me too - note that this doc did not percuss (much better way of finding consolidation IMO) Still I guess it's a wonder doctors even use stethoscopes these days...
