je sais que "gisement" se traduit par "relative bearing"

This is for further translation into Turkish.

Clarification request(s) and response
dikran d: 11:50pm May 1, 2006: "...arme montée en gisement sur un support..."
MatthewLaSon: 4:13am May 2, 2006: Are you talking about an "arme à feu"? "arme" alone is not a "gun", but a weapon of some sort. -
MatthewLaSon: 4:22am May 2, 2006: It should read "arme monté", not "arme montée". "Arme" is a masculine noun. -
dikran d: 8:21am May 2, 2006: I suspect it's "arme à feu"
They don't use swords any more do they?:) Thanks a lot anyway.

neutral Ines26: I would rather use "on traverse mounting" rather than "on azimuth"...

another probability is this: *gun/weapon positioned in relative bearing*. Yes, as David said it would be helpful to know what type of 'arme' it is.

I also agree with Icetrance that "arme" is a sort of weapon.... The first thing that entered my mind was gun. What kind of weapon is it? :)

disagree Ines26: As far as guns (or other weapons) are concerned, I always saw "gisement" translated by "traverse" (I worked four years in that sector)
