Any gun or misile may be automated as being coupled to a radar for instance!
T'was the case with some machine-guns on the Berlin wall, for instance...

fire support artillery

Explanation:
I suppose the role of the artillery is to provide fire support for a certain function, rather than for independent use.

agree  philgoddard: Sorry, I've changed my mind. Websters says for "slave": "Subject (a device) to control by another: "the two channels can be slaved together".

(computer) assisted artillery

Explanation:
If it is aboard a sub, where torpedoes obviously are the most important weapons, "artillery" can only refer to a minor, surface to surface, armament.
Therefore, I do not really see which other equipment it can be "asservi" to, but some computer command system...
If my gambit is OK, therefore "assisted" comes better than "slaved" (or "enslaved") and "interlocked" !
Thanks for all comments...

agree  chris collister: Servo-assisted or computer controlled. Definitely not artillery: in 20 years working for a sonar company, I never saw a "gun" on a modern submarine. "Weapons" would do it, though missiles are probably meant.

-> Yes, you're absolutely right, if the sentence relates to a recent type of submarine. But on older ones (German U Boot during WW2), there was a deck cannon for surface warfare.

neutral  philgoddard: * is not an explanation, and your example sentence is nothing to do with submarines.
