Music
French term or phrase: baton de pluie
This is a hollow tube - often made of bamboo - filled with little objects. When it is turned over with one end down, the objects fall and make a swooshing sound. So what's the English term?

ne pousse pas la chansonnette – I'm In The Mood - continue, imperturbable, à

I guess the higher confidence level decides it!

Rainmaker

Explanation:
See these two sites where there are pictures:
http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&q=rainmaker+musical+ins...
http://www.musiccorner.co.uk/index.php?cPath=5_848_2065
On the second site are pictures of rainmakers and rainsticks.

I dont really know the difference, but in my other life as a musician we referred to them as 'rainmakers'
I just wonder if the rainsticks are the smaller ones

Sorry, Bourth - and I've made lots of those too- and we still called them rainmakers! I suspect it is one of those things where either translation is the right one and it probably depends which country you are in etc etc. Sorry to be a pain.........

rain stick

Explanation:
A rainstick is a large wooden hollow stick with small pebbles inside that make sound like rain when you rotate the stick. I believe it's from Chili. You can see the dictionary definition here:
