I know that "chevilles" = "tuning pegs", but can't find a verb. Could it simply be adjust? |

Explanation:
Having had my piano restrung and having seen how they go about it, I think I can safely say that "cheviller" meant putting pegs back in the piano after the loose ones have been removed and that the second bit refers to changing the worn strings.
