| | shrink-fit stop | Explanation: When you say "shrink fit" you tend to think of plastic wrapping heat shrunk over articles, but the same can be done with metals. take a rod, for example, and a ring that ALMOST slides over the rod. By heating/chilling the rod and the ring to appropriate temperatures to achieve relative expansion/contraction the ring can be placed over the rod and positioned where required. When the parts return to their normal temperatures, they will be tightly locked together.
Quite what the purpose of such a stop on pipework might be I cannot fathom, however.
