Patent to do with nuclear fission

"La détection des neutrons se fait par l'intermédiaire d'un dépôt fissile qui est le siège de fissions nucléaires."

I am tempted to use the expression "seat of fission reactions" by analogy with "seat of a fire"... only trouble is no such use of "seat" comes up when Googling, although there is a tiny handful of "seat of nuclear reactions".
