There are many sentences with tranche in this specifications document concerning a software security system for a nuclear plant.
E.g. sentences
Echanger les données entre SAD de degré 2 de sécurité au sein d’une tranche.
1 serveur par tranche
pour les tranches 1300 (referring to the 1300 MW plant, I suppose)

After doing much research I am tempted to leave this as "tranche". I do not think it can be a data slice. Thanks in advance.

Thanks Bourth and all. I tripped because the full phrase tranche nucléaire was not used! It is there in GDT as nuclear unit! So I have used nuclear unit.
