French to English translations [PRO]
Nuclear Eng/Sci / Radiation Protection
French term or phrase: Nucléaire de proximité
This is how it is defined.

Thanks for your help.

English translation:Atomkraft, nein danke
Explanation:
I'd get away from "nuclear", in every circumstance. It smells of leaky power plants, etc.

"Radiology", on the other hand, is quite respectable, though a wolf (albeit a small wolf) in lamb's clothing.

"Radiology" is said of nuclear medicine, industrial radiology (weld testing, etc.), baggage inspection, food irradiation (with the best of intentions), etc.

Thank you Moira for your detective work but I chose Bourth's suggestion which seemed if anything more apt than the French. Thanks Bourth.

During the visit, the two organisations restated their commitment to regulating “small-scale” nuclear activities, such as the use of ionising radiation for medical purposes. They agreed that more effort was needed to justify and optimise medical applications of ionising radiation, to ensure that patients could take advantage of the undeniable benefits offered by these techniques, while avoiding unnecessary radiation exposure.
