GLOSSARY ENTRY (DERIVED FROM QUESTION BELOW)
French term or phrase:
aliments de recharge
English translation:
restorative foods (good dietary sources of essential micronutrients)
Explanation: Essential micronutrients are important vitamins, minerals, antioxidants etc that are present in various quantities in different foods.
There are superfoods - which are highly concentrated in a wide range of essential micronutrients. Superfoods are things like blue-green algae, wheatgrass juice, and, my favourite, bee pollen.
But these "aliments de recharge" seem to be one below superfoods in that they are only concentrated in "certain" nutrients.
Thank you for all the good answers - in this particular context I needed a brief term, for something that it's useful to eat at times

"battery-charging" foods ?
Explanation: In the absence of a better expression, why not say something like "battery-charging" foods...because that is definitely what it is talking about and I think the term would be understood - and can include whatever sort of nutrients are being referred to, without being specific... anyway, this is just a suggestion if all else fails!!

... keeping the term in inverted commas, of course, and making us of 'poetic' licence!

Explanation: I think it is important to decide if the term is intended to be catchy or to be technically correct. The example of liver as an "aliment de recharge" suggests to me that the author is talking about foods that have high concentrations of specific nutrients. Another example would be bananas, which are high in potassium.
In contrast to foods high in specific nutrients, which, incidentally, have no special benefit unless the consumer has low body stores of these nutrients, are "refuel foods", which as I understand it, are simply foods high in carbohydrates, "booster foods" which are being touted in the reference, likely without clinical substantiation, as a sort of innoculation against cancer, restorative foods, which again, will not restore anything unless it is already depleated and regenerative food, which to me is vague, and likely misleading.
The reference to "micronutrients" does not apply in this context. Iron, for example, while a nutrient, is not a micronutrient, as it is required in relatively large quantities.

That's depleted, not depleated.
