DESS (Diploma of Specialized Higher Studies) Explanation: I have a lot of respect for the previous answerer and his source of information, but "secondary", in the continental European context, usually refers to those who are 12 - 18 years old. |

lot of respect for the previous answerer Explanation: just want to say that i'm a teacher too and that granddictionnaire is the most complete french/english database in the world i never judge the answers this database provides because they are professionals who must spend a couple of hours before deciding what the online entry will be i may be too humble!!!!!!!!!! |

(French) post-graduate diploma OR Five-Year French University diploma Explanation: The Grand Dictionnaire is a GREAT French/English database (have been a subscriber for over 10 years -- on-line and CD versions [was called Le Doc, then]. Some would claim TERMIUM is the most complete French/English database. Both are wonderful tools. Wouldn't live and/or work without them. ...But, for obvious reasons, with a North-American focus. Our education systems are structured quite differently. We do need to take Sandrine's context into account. I would most certainly use "DESS" and add a translator's note. OR translate more or less literally. Although "Specialized" + "graduate" OR "post-graduate" diploma sounds a bit redundant or self-evident. See what Internet has to offer: EQUIVALENCIES Comparing American and French degrees DESS (Five-Year French university diploma, third cycle). http://frenchculture.org/education/france/go/equivalences.ht... ALSO: EDUCATION 1979 ...Business Administration Diploma [DESS-CAAE - French University post-graduate level] ...............Institut de Gestion de Rennes - France. (Rennes Business School).
