Once, the driver was attacked when the lights were against him Explanation: You could play with "une fois" which really means "in the past". You could even move away from the original to express that idea. "avoir un feu rouge" is a colloquial expression, something along the lines of what can be expressed in GB English by "have the lights against you". A green light, of course, is "with" you. "a été victime de qqchs" : "was". "A été" (passé composé) preferred to "était" (imparfait) as more immediate, more familiar style. |
