agree  Sheila Wilson: Alternative spelling = "withy". I believe "osier" is a synonym

agree  kashew: withe = brin d'osier in my old Hachette

agree  mikecassady: Yes for 'withe' for a 'tie', but what is 'tailler' at the Taillard Bridge is willows, or osier shoots. The 'harts' are the lashings, the ties, the wicker once transformed.

neutral  B D Finch: I've never come across the "withe" spelling for "withy" (which is how it is pronounced). "Faggot band" sounds rather rude!

agree  Tony M: Now, now, Barbara, I hope you're not thinking of 'Pet Shop Boys' lol!
