French term or phrase: visité
This is from a set of guidelines about controlling access to buildings housing sensitive documents. The buildings contain various "zones" which are classified according to the level of sensitivity of the documents stored in them.

"Visiteurs: ils ont acces via le visité résidant dans la zone. Ils sont raccompagnés jusqu'a la limite de la zone".
I haven't come across the word visité elsewhere so far.

I hope that's enough context, I'm a bit restricted because of the confidential nature of the file.

Thanks in advance.

the person they are visiting
Explanation:
Le visiteur is the person who is doing the visting (guest) in the same way as le visité is the person who the guest is visiting. The person who guests are visiting accompanies guests or allows them access to the zone.

agree  Constantinos Faridis: oui, visité est participe passé du verbe visiter. visité par + Complement d'agent)

agree  philgoddard: Presumably "résidant" means "working" rather than "living".

-> Thanks Phil. That is what I assume too.

disagree  mimi 254: context is about "zones" and not persons being visited//agree with your explanation but not with the proposed term - member staff in charge of the zone (though too long) might work here

-> You may be right mimi, but the way I understand this is that an external person (visiteur) will be allowed access to a particular zone with an internal member of staff (visité) / yes, there may indeed be a better term, but no mention of 'in charge' in ST

agree  David Goward: I think it's the "via" that's confusing mimi 254 (and maybe the asker). You're right though.

Explanation:
I have never come across this in spoken French before, so this is just a guess at what makes sense.
