Tech/Engineering - Other / automated fire safety systems
French term or phrase: perchage
Context:
This is from a contractual schedule ("Annexe") covering test/inspection of safety monitoring systems at a golfing resort/hotel in France. It is part of a series of e-mails and contractual documents contained in one of several exhibits ("pièces"), so presumably is part of a litigation file.

The term "perchage" occurs in a list of periodic checks to be performed on a fire-dectection system.

Heading: "Vérification fonctionnelle"
Sub-heading: "Centrale détection incendie"
[...]
"Essai de chaque détecteur par **perchage** et contrôle de leurs voyants avec contrôle de l'alarme sur la centrale."

Could this be "poling"? i.e. to trigger the alarm at each detector unit. It sounds as though a pole (perche) has to be used to actuate the unit.

I hope this is sufficient context to help with answering. I shall be grateful for any help.

With kind regards,

Adam Warren

Reference: Utilisation d'une perche

Reference information:
L'essai des détecteurs en hauteur (au plafond le plus souvent) se fait à l'aide d'une perche télescopique:

La perche peut servir à tenir la bombe d'essai de fumée, à démonter le détecteur ou à appliquer un élément chauffant.

Note to reference poster
Asker: Merci de m'avoir répondu aussi promptement. Adam.

Asker: I think you could anglicise your answer, and win some points, since I should like to award them to your answer. Thanks also to Bourth for a very practical illustration of the use of a pole.

agree  xxxBourth: "Pole" is referred to in a number of English sites, but I've found nothing as concise as perchage, so we might be looking at "use of a pole-mounted smoke aerosol can" or something similar.
