démarreur à distance Explanation: I have heard this expression used, but never "plip". You can see there are a lot of hits for this expression in Quebec web sites on Alta Vista, for example. |

telecomande Explanation: My husband has just acquired a new car which comes with one such thing, and we call it telecomande; not really "integrated" to the porte-cles; it is attached to the key with a chainette; this telecomande/plip opens the doors, has a "panic" button and a few other functions. démareur à distance Explanation: "GM jimmy 1992, 191000 km 7500$ blanc ,comme neuf, etc anti-demareur systeme d'alarme, demarreur a distance" But I would prefer the word "telecommande" myself. Shorter and easier to use. I bet that is the word people use (except for those who use the english word "remote"), even though officially, the expression "demareur a distance" seems to be the right one. Maybe we will import the word "plip", or coin our own canadian word someday? Reference: http://www.gomtl.com/francais/Autos.html |
