Is this a French term of endearment? How do you pronounce it and what would be an English equivalent.

Dear/my dear/darling/honey would be English equivalents.

I\'ve heard both \"chou\" and \"chou chou\" addressed to a significant other or a child.
I also agree with lien. Depending on the context, it could definitely mean \"teacher\'s pet\".

( shoe shoe is the pronounciation) term of endearment - Not always pejoratif - where I come from, we use it as a word to refer to something/one little and cute/sweet (might be a pet/child), but I do know of the " teacher's pet" as well.
