agree BAmary: I used to work for a company where they called it "overhaul" because they didn't really shut down the plant, but stopped it for maintenance.

plant shutdown

Explanation:
Nothing to add to the above re. "shutdown", but you might want to consider an alternative to "factory", depending on your context of course. "plant" has the advantage of covering both manufacturing plants (factories) and such things as water treatment plants, garbage processing plants, nuclear power plants, etc., all of these being "usine" in French since "manufacture" went out of fashion not long after fob watches.
