The "piste" in a gas station is a lane, as far as I can make out, but I cannot find English hits for a proper term.

I imagine "forecourt" will work for your other uses of "piste".
I can't see it being "lane". A service-station forecourt will usually have several lanes, and AFAIAC "lane manager" would tend to imply the person in charge of a single lane. Not that I think for a moment such a person exists.

Traditionally, the service station staff had to do a lot of paperwork towards the end of the shift which had to then be sent manually to the main office, where all the figures had to be manually entered into Oracle Financials. As a result of FMS, this activity has been automated. Now all the SENIOR FORECOURT ATTENDANT has to do is press one key on his keyboard and the entire shift closing process is completed automatically in less than 10 minutes. A report is also printed at the end.

Thanks once again for so many valuable references.
Notes to answerer
Asker: A "Wow" job indeed... thanks for all the references, as usual. There are other places where "piste" is used - is it indeed "lane" then? - "service piste" is then "lane service"?
