French term or phrase: unité d’extraction des aromatiques au solvant, le furfurol
This is from a text presenting the history of a refinery. It has two such units and I'm not sure if the furfurol is the aromatic that is extracted or the solvent used to do so.
Thanks!

English translation:solvent
Explanation:
Larousse Lexis gives both spellings, furfurOl and furfurAl. Not sure which is prevalent in English, but I think it's "furfurAl".

Furfural is used as a SOLVENT IN PETROCHEMICAL REFINING to extract dienes (which are used to make synthetic rubber) from other hydrocarbons.

Hawley's says furfural is used for "SOLVENT REFINING OF LUBRICATING OILS".

disagree  Guy Bray: solvent-extraction unit, for aromatics presumably including furfural

-> Yes, my title word was not meant as a translation, merely as an indication that furfural is a solvent for removing aromatics, not one of the aromatics removed, as per Asker's interrogation.

agree  mimi 254: Yes - furfurol is the solvent used to extract aromatics
