Yes, I know there are LOADS of answers already in Kudoz. See right at the end of the context provided. I am translating an agreement between a company that manufactures steel tubes etc. for use in the oil and gas industry and a company they are commissioning to electroplate them with ternary alloys (electrodeposition). The trouble is, some of the text was (unhelpfully IMHO) pre-translated and I am now struggling to make a distinction between 'manchons' (which, from the beginning, I had understood to be the actual tubes or pipes) and the word 'tubing' as both terms appear in the pre-translated bit I have reproduced below. I suspect that it was the client who pre-translated it, but I can't seem to get an answer from them at the moment and so have come on here for the usual bilingual technological light beams that can be shone on such matters!
Of course, it could be that at this stage I have got it slightly wrong and the 'manchons' are in fact the connections (connectors?) that link one pipe/tube to the next. Then the pre-translated 'tubing' could mean the actual 'tubes'... I guess... but at the moment this is as clear as mud....
I think this question should bring Bourth in like a prize-winning tuna fish! But his might not be the first answer I land! Now, there's a challenge for a Friday night (traditional fish-supper night in the UK at least... not sure about other countries).

the more I think it has to be the couplings, connectors, connections, or whatever you want to call them.... I think there has been a mistake in the pre-translated bit!
... was my initial thought... but elsewhere in the pre-translated parts of the doc they refer to 'tubes' in quite a general way... which got me wondering....and even googling the companies involved doesn't really help...hmmm! All very confusing but luckily I have a good deadline on this, so time for much further pondering... and interestingly, TechLawDC's suggestion would seem to add weight to the idea that the manchons are not the actual tubes themselves...
