French to English translations [PRO] Philosophy | | French term or phrase: À l’articulation de la souveraineté | Philosophical speech on landmines.
Context:
"À l’articulation de la souveraineté et du peuple au travers de la loi, s’est superposée l’articulation de la gestion administrative (ou comme on dit alors de la « police ») et de la population au travers de la règle ou de la norme. " |

| | style issue with à x is easily solved... | Explanation: The articulation of administrative management - otherwise known as the "police" - and the population through rules or standards has been superimposed on the articulation of sovereignity and the people through the rule of law [or based on the law]
you have to get down to the BASIC, subject verb object structure by DROPPING the French à x which is not necessary in English...It is stylistic and elegant in French and in English is nonsense and undoable.

Please note:t he most important point is that one set of articulations has been superimposed on another. the word articulation is very used in this discourse. Again, that\'s my experience, which I share with you. It\'s FINE in this kind of academic speech.
He saying one set of things\'[police and people through rules] has been superimposed on another [sovereignity + people with rule of law].
The superimposition is the WHOLE point of the sentence.

another point: the passive can be turned around like I did...if you want SOVER> and THE PEOPLE first, you have to repassify it...as in:
2nd choice: The articulation of sovereignity and the people through the rule of law [or based on the law]has had superimposed on it the articulation of administrative management - otherwise known as the \"police\" - and the population through rules or standards.

2 hrs confidence: |
| to that between sovereignty
Explanation: But you would need to turn the sentence around. 'The articulation between administration and people .... has been superimposed to that between sovereignty and population'
The idea is not the replacement of one by the other, but the continuation of the first and of its articulation with the people (i.e., its hinge, link) and another layer of regulations, norms and structures laid over them. Laws still exist but know we have also policies on top.
