The space between two frames/panels in a comic strip. Is there a term in English for this that anyone might know of, other than expressions such as "the space between frames"?

Clarification request(s) and response
Franck: 10:46am Jun 25, 2008: As I was working on this translation, I came across a very interesting article on comics and more particularly graphic narratives, in which the author (Hillary Chute) refers to that space between frames as the "gutter." Here is the reference: http://www.mlajournals.org/doi/abs/10.1632/pmla.2008.123.2.4...

Asker: Thanks Tricast for this interesting link; unfortunately, it deals only with the film frame, not the frames of comics and the spaces that separate them.

Notes to answerer
Asker: Thanks for the resource, Euqinimod —still, I was looking for the name of the space between frames, not the term referring to their edges.
