agree  Martin Cassell: I don't really see that one can be totally, categorically, unconditionally certain when zero context is offered, but on the balance of probabilities this will be it :-) // BTW I would go for "taken", and perhaps for "taken on"

  -> Thanks, and I unconditionally agree with you about the context... :-)

agree  Tony M: I certainly wouldn't claim to be 100% sure, but as Martin says, I think this is probably the most likely bet

  -> thanks, Tony :)

agree  Anthony Lines: Since I assume that it doesn't refer to risqué photographs taken in the bedroom !

photographs taken using a technical camera

Explanation:
Again, hampered by lack of context — but as Stefan has already said, this does often refer to large-format cameras; however, certain types of such cameras are also referred to as 'technical cameras', which (if that type is indeed applicable in this particular context) might well be the appropriate term to use.

Reference information:
Describing the advantages of large format:
"L’utilisation d’une chambre grand-format s’écarte radicalement de celle des formats inférieurs"
"Le coût des plans-films peut paraître prohibitif comparé au film 35 mm. Mais à la chambre, on déclenche tellement peu et seulement à coup sûr !"
http://www.dg77.net/photo/linhof/index.htm

35mm (24 x 36mm image format) and smaller are small format.
6cm x 4.5cm, 6cm x 6cm are medium format
Small and medium format film cameras generally take roll film.
Large format cameras generally take sheet film (or even plates): 4"x5" is typical.

As Tony points out, LF cameras are sometime also described as "chambres techniques"/"technical cameras" if the emphasis is on specialised capabilities (perspective control, etc.) or specialised applications (engineering, architecture, etc.).
