Avant de refermer ce livre d’images et de vous tirer sa révérence, la Côte d’Azur nous rappelle encore une fois combien jadis il faisait bon vivre, se promener, aimer sur ses rivages … comme si le temps des vacances ne devait jamais y finir.

Thank you to everyone for all your input and efforts which I appreciate. I especially liked the words courting and joy but I'm only allowed to choose one answer.

of the simple pleasures that were to be had walking, courting...

Explanation:
Just to put my oar in. "Courting" is of course now an old fashioned word, and so a reference to times past.

...how much bliss could be experienced in the happy days of yore...(SEE below

Explanation:
…The Côte d’Azur reminds us once again how much bliss could be experienced in the happy days of yore; taking walks, being in love (making love) along the river banks… as if the leisure time of vacation lived there was never going to end …

Note added at 50 mins (2005-09-11 03:08:43 GMT)
--------------------------------------------------

if yore sounds too archaic, you can say "days gone by or days of old...(something more simple):
how much bliss could be experienced in the days gone by(days of old)...

Note: I gave more text than asked for (below in comments section)-however, being that the text refers to the shores of the coast, I may have misrendered it as riverbanks so feel free to change to "shores" or "beaches"
