French term or phrase: trouver un fil surprise
Voici les phrases extraits du roman

: Pierre n'entre pas, il fait les cent pas devant les portes-fenetres du crematorium. Papa hesite a quitter la ceremonie pour le rejoindre. (....) Ses debats interieurs reprennent, match violent. Rester? Aller pres de Pierre? Papa cafouille. Il sort dans le jardin, mais il ne voulait pas quitter la ceremonie. Dehors, il trouve un fil surprise : sortir, c'etait le bon chemin pour se rapprocher de moi. Papa prend la main de Pierre dans la sienne, comme il faisait avec moi(qui suis mort et devore dans le four maintenant).


Qu'est-ce que ca veut dire ce 'un fil surprise'?
D'ailleurs, est-ce que ca va grammaticalement cette expression-la?

Explanation:
Not a great translation on my part but I imagine you will be translating this into Korean?
In knitting "fil surprise" is literally a multicoloured yarn - the surprise is you never know what colour will come out where in your pattern.
The figurative idea here is that going outside was a surprise, you never know what you're going to come across...
