French to English translations [PRO] Tech/Engineering - Printing & Publishing / brochures | | French term or phrase: continu client par paravent | | "Continu" in the printing industry appears to refer to continuous paper and "paravent" to the page area between two folds, but quite how one would best translate the whole phrase, I'm not sure. Any ideas? |
| | Clarification request(s) and responseBourth: 11:35pm Sep 4, 2006: Context? Full sentence? I thought "papier paravent" was "papier listing" or "computer paper", a continuous strip of concertina-folded paper, and that each piece between folds (pre-cut) is called a "page" or "sheet". Sarah Walls: 1:29am Sep 5, 2006: context - There isn't really much context, just a number of items with boxes to tick: continu client par paravent, non continu papier, blanc, couleur etc. Yes, Bourth, you're right both that it's continuous paper and of course, in English we would simply say "page" or "sheet" (I was paraphrasing the definitions I found in French). Maurice's suggestion sounds good to me.

| | custom fanfold | Explanation: I agree, we need more context to be sure but le papier à pliage accordéon ou à pliage paravent est un papier d'imprimante en continu (Faudouas: Dictionnaire technique des industries graphiques). I assume client, here, means specially made for the customer. |
