French term or phrase: à simple entrée
Decision by the Court of Appeal on an issue of copyright infringement between two magazines. This is about the layout of the cover page.

le choix d'une gamme chromatique dominante à base de brun-rouge sombre, déclinée en différents coloris sous la forme caractéristique de " signets carrés ", la reprise des guillemets à simple entrée et des formes arrondies,

with opening quote marks only
Explanation:
They do funny things with quote marks these days. A graphic charter for a corporate magazine I do calls for VERY LARGE opening quote marks on a verbatim, a quote taken from the text and reproduced in large type somewhere on the page. Though the closing quote marks are still larger than the text they enclose, they are considerably smaller than the opening quotes. At first I thought this was a layout error and pointed it out to them. Then it got on my nerves. Now I'm used to it.

I can well imagine that some trendy maquettiste has decided they simply don't need closing quote marks.

opening single quotation marks

Explanation:
'Guillemets à simple entrée' pourrait signifier des guillemets à la fois simples et ouvrants.

"Further, the "smart quotes" feature converts opening apostrophes (such as in the words 'tis, 'em, and 'til) into OPENING SINGLE QUOTATION MARKS—essentially upside-down apostrophes."

also: open single quotes.
