... would probably be the most accurate way of rendering it, but the register might not be appropriate for what seems like your rather formal context.

Beware of 'relationships', simply inasmuch as that could imply all sorts of relationships, not necessarily 'emotional' ones, as implied by 'sentimentaux'; however, if the surrounding context makes it clear that it is specifically referring to emotional relationships, then the more formal expression 'failed relationships' or 'relationship problems' might be more appropriate for your needs.
