Characteristics of a patient with PTSD and Borderline PD. It is really the words "sur un fond de" that I would like help with, since hypervigilance and mistrust are no strangers to me! ;-)

hypervigilance characterized by mistrust
Explanation:
Hello,

Hypervigilance is literally "on a background of mistrust."
This means that mistrust is the cause of this hypervigilance experienced by the person in question. One could say that this case of hypervigilance is characterized by mistrust (the background of mistrust is what "colors" this mistrust).

I hope this helps.
