French to English translations [PRO] Social Sciences - Psychology / métapsychologie de la phonation
French term or phrase:professionnels de la voix
This is a summary of an article on psychoanalysis. Here the authors, in order to study the psychological aspects of voice, and in particular voice loss (due to laryngectomy for example), propose a study which takes into account both "biological/scientific" data (phonation, linguistics and "témoignages de *** professionnels de la voix***" etc ) and present trends in metapsychology and intrapsychic experience.
I understand that 'professionnels de la voix" are orthophonists, for example, but, given the other summaries I have before me, would also be music teachers, singers, teachers in general.... people whose voice would be an essential part of their profession.
Any ideas for a nice comprehensive term? Many thanks in advance!
Explanation: might work as it does exist
Dysphonia has an occupational view nowadays. A shift in the voice-oriented professional's clinical approach has been required. New voice-oriented job categories have emerged and, as a result, the voice disorder in the professional enviroment has increased. The economic and productivity harm due to voice disorders are a preocupation. Dysphonia has multiple causes and its evaluation, ethiological conclusion and occupational reports aren't defined yet. AIM: In order to obtain a more accurate and comprehensive evaluation, a multidisciplinary protocol was elaborated to ensure proper medical scientific support. It consists of anamnesis, physical exam, laryngeal endoscopy, perceptive voice analysis and Voice Handicap Index application (VHI). STUDY DESIGN: Transversal historic cohort. MATERIAL E MÉTODO: In this preliminary study, the protocol was applied on 15 voice professionals with dysphonia. RESULTS: 13,3% with normal voice performance; 33,3% with functional dysphonia; 46% with organic dysphonia. Dysphonia was related to the voice-oriented job in 40% cases and it was ruled out in 46,6%. CONCLUSION: We concluded that the protocol is complete enough to help otolaryngologists evaluate this workers' category.

the link above seems to differentiate between voice-oriented professionals, which I took to mean the people who deal with 'voice professionals', in other words, singers, TV presenters, teachers, etc. However, "professionals working in voice-related fields" also appears to be a possility

Not sure if I was very clear last night ... snowed under at the moment
what I meant to say was that it seemed that voice-oriented professionals appear to be those who work with and help people who use their voice in a more direct manner and those in voice-related professions or those working in voice-related fields could work as an alternative

... and I've just reread your question.! In fact you wanted the term for the singers etc.!! So yes, voice professionals in this case and voice-related/oriented professionals for the clinicians ... I misunderstood as you posted it under Medical so I thought you were looking for the cover-all term for those who work with voice professionals too ... hence my waffle above. Sorry! I really shouldn't answer questions when I'm focusing on something else! :-))
Thanks very much suezen for all you references - I think I'll go with 'those in voice-related professions". Not as pretty as voice professionals but this latter does only seem to cover those who use their voice, not therapists/doctors etc. 4 KudoZ points were awarded for this answer
I guess the most specific term for your needs would have to be as unspecific as "voice expert" which includes all the categories whether professional (specialist) or not (teacher).
