French term or phrase: dispositifs de visite
Hi All,

I am translating a property survey and I am having difficulty with the above term. It appears in a risk assessment list of water used by the property. The title reads:

"etat des dispositifs de visite"

Through my research on the internet, the only translation I can come up with is:

"condition of the inspection devices"

Any ideas?

Thanks!

dispositif de visite
inspection facility

Explanation:
Since the sort of things like manholes, etc. can hardly really be described as 'devices' (or at least, not all of them), I'd favour going for something slightly more general, like 'facilitiy' — which is, by the way, very often a handy translation for 'dispositif'

agree  Alan Douglas: I thin that this is the closest although it should be "facilities".

agree  Tony M: That would be ifne, if they are only 'access points' — but in some contexts, this might be too restrictive, I feel. / No but there are plenty of other types of 'dispositif' it might include too, not strictly speaking 'access'

-> Thanks Tony. Not really restrictive: inspection access points would include visual inspection points and rodding eyes, it would not be restricted to things people can get themselves into like manholes.

agree  Angus Stewart: I also share your view that this term would not be restrictive.

disagree  Alan Douglas: I just don't get the translation of dispostif as "access points". Surely in this context the meaning is closer to "plans" or "measures". This would to "facilities" or arrangements put in place to facilitate the inspection.
