Science - Science (general) / Scientific Writing
French term or phrase: produirait/solliciterait
Hi, Can anyone help with this- I am having trouble identifying how, in scientific writing, to translate the French conditional to express a potential, tentative/conjectural judgement based on the evidence of the data/to weaken knowledge claim before more resarch is done. How would we address this in English? The use of "would" doesn't appear to work. Or maybe "could" ? Examples are: "ostéopathie produirait des mécanismes cérébraux favorables au traitement du traumatisme psychique" "Le soin du corps traumatisé solliciterait les traces mnésiques épisodiques du traumatisme, pendant que la dissociation en reproduirait le niveau de conscience sans angoisse"

Thanks!
