French term or phrase: projection d’une entité sans signature unique
Discussing the credentials of a research cluster (pôle):

[Le regroupement] figure au tout premier plan des institutions d’enseignement supérieur et de recherche au niveau européen et dans les trente premières places au niveau mondial. Certes, la projection d’une entité sans signature unique dans les classements internationaux est délicate, notamment pour le fameux classement ARWU (dit « de Shanghai »). Le classement HEEACT (dit « de Taiwan ») est plus aisément et précisément reproductible.

At first I thought 'projection' meant 'inclusion', but I think the key lies in the word 'reproductible' in the next sentence. My thoughts are long the lines of: "determining the exact place in the rankings of an entity that has no ?single signatory? is difficult", perhaps to reflect the fact that the pôle is made up of several entities each with their own ranking? But I would appreciate comments from others.

Thanks.

English translation:Establishing a consortium/grouping made up of several independent entities
Explanation:
I think you got the meaning right, however I'd move away from the word "entité" and "signature" which I think are too ambiguous.
Why not replace entity with consortium in its association sense, or grouping (more general). I however used it afterwards as the cluster can be made of very different structures: laboratories, universities, private companies, etc.
I used "establishing" in its sense of having something recognized as a reference.

"Establishing...in international rankings"

Thanks. I'm going to play with it a bit further, but this has pointed me in the right direction.
