Social Sciences - Social Science, Sociology, Ethics, etc. / Immigration
French term or phrase: immigration de peuplement
Comes from a French text about immigration. Prior to this paragraph it refers to internal immigration within Europe, followed by labour from the colonial empires.
"D'immigration de travail dont le destin était de retourner tôt ou tard dans son pays d'origine, elle s'est transformée petit à petit en une immigration durable, "une immigration de peuplement"."

This term seems to be used by right-wing (and extreme-right) political parties in France, but I'm struggling to find an English translation.

Which are the effects of mass immigration on the economy? It shows that the importation of workforce immigration was primarily a temporary immigration concentrated on the industry (up to the seventies), and became later a settlement immigration focusing on the services (from the eighties on).
