I am translating a testimony of a former prostitute (in French from Quebec) and I don't know how to translate the phrase "du milieu" in this context.

Je lis vos échanges sur la prostitution depuis quelques semaines et ça me fait bien réfléchir au point où on en est dans notre monde fucké. Je ne trouve pas que vous dites toute la vérité et avant que vous me disiez de me la fermer parce que je ne serais pas **"du milieu"**, je me présente. Je suis une ex, j’ai commencé à 13 ans initiée par mon petit ami de 20 ans qui avait besoin d’argent pour sa dope et ses études.
