French to English translations [PRO] Social Sciences - Social Science, Sociology, Ethics, etc.

I'm struggling to find a suitable translation for this metaphor. I don't feel that the literal translation is suitable here - unless it has a special significance in social psycvhology terms.
I'd be grateful for any suggestions. Many thanks! |
| | | does not go far enough (as an explanation)/ is insufficient (as a theory basis) | Explanation: or something along these lines. As I see it, the social construction of reality is one theory but the author wants to say that there are other aspects that need to be taken into consideration and therefore this theory is insufficient. Personally I think "is insufficient" or "does not go far enough" would be fine. |

| Grading comment Many thanks, suezen! I'm quite happy with this extremely helpful answer, and can see no point in hanging on for others - and wasting other people's time. I had expected you to have amassed a whole collection of agrees by now, but suspect that Social Psychology questions aren't everybody's cup of tea... 4 KudoZ points were awarded for this answer |

Asker: thanks, that's a lovely explanation - along the lines of my thoughts, but far better expressed!
