French to English translations [PRO] Social Sciences - Social Science, Sociology, Ethics, etc.
- expression : "expression" (substantif) ou "expressing" ? ;
- pensée sociale : "social thought" (substantif) ou "social thinking"?
Pourriez-vous me conseiller? Merci beaucoup. |

Explanation: I'm presuming this is a title and this is what I would spontaneously say without any more context

Explanation: What is the expression of social thought if not social commentary? Just as "expression de la pensée critique" would be simply criticism -I believe, anyway!

Yup, I was wrong.
Note: social thinking appears to be the term you are after - referring to how human beings perceive each other, the thoughts that drive human interactions etc.
Social thought on the other hand refers to theory (e.g. individualism, humanism cd be schools of social thought...)
Without more context it's hard to say which one you need!
"social thought" refers more to social theories

Asker: Thanks, enloude. Social thinking actually is expressed in specific ways ; you are right-all sorts of social communications : rumors, propaganda, etc., but not only. It also refers to social representations, reasoning canevasses, stereotypes, -- which is somewhat where the difficulty comes from in translating it.
Another perspective on social thinking gave "social cognition", which is the more "American" side of the social psychology.
