These are not "current events". There is nothing that implies "current" in "faits de société." We aren't talking about "les actualités", necessarily.

it now sounds 'deeper' than current affairs - reflections of Nature plus 'human' something or other....

he paints and works in glass. His theme is 'reflection' i.e. on life itself, and metaphorically with the regard to water and mirrors. Can't see that this is relevant to my question though!
