French to English translations [PRO] Social Sciences - Social Science, Sociology, Ethics, etc. / PEST analysis / social environment
French term or phrase:Comportements de loisirs
SOCIAL
Comportements de loisirs
Lois du travail favorable
Main d’oeuvre disponible
Système social favorable
Nombre de touristes croissants
Diaspora revenant et investissant au pays
As you can see, this comes in a list of social attributes for a certain country/island. Any suggestions on how best to translate 'comportements de loisirs'? Unfortunately no further context is available.
Explanation: this term seems like the odd one out in the list, while the other items are "favorable" or "croissant" this is just a statement. so if translating literally it would just be "recreational habits" IMO, but I think that here you need to add something to it, hence my suggestion of positive.

Thanks Catharine, I feel this is the closest in terms of describing how the population enjoy their leisure time/activities. 3 KudoZ points were awarded for this answer
Hi David; the problem is that the term asked for does not convey or insinuate what you want to express, i.e. how do people send their leisure time. the only way out of the dilemma might be to translate :leisurely-like behaviour, yet I find it hard to believe that this is meant here.
Thanks for your proposed entry. The only thing is that 'Leisure time behaviour' doesn't really express what the behaviour is like, which is what I'm struggling to convey in English. It's the sense that the local population enjoy their leisure time, they're laid back etc
Les comportements sociologiques démontrent leurs propensions aux loisirs, à la culture ainsi qu’à la consommation lors des temps libres.

Leisure opportunities
Explanation: Entries on the list are evidently designed to attract visitors/investors. Opportunities is suitably vague and has the advantage of being something offered rather than something the sought-after individuals would have to do!

Explanation: I wonder if you might get away with "laid-back / leisurely atmosphere" as I don't think this is really about leisure time per se.
We generally don't talk about countries' "behaviour", which is why I've suggested "atmosphere".

"Leisure behaviour" certainly exists and can be used in a sociological context, but I really don't think you can use it to describe a country/island.
If you want to stick with the "leisure behaviour" idea, you'll have to add some qualifiers to show that you're talking about the population and not the island itself, IMO.

"Leisure-oriented" is another suggestion which is ambiguous enough to stand alone in describing a country or be used alongside "population" if you want to go that route.
