French to English translations [PRO] Tech/Engineering - Sports / Fitness / Recreation / bicycles | | French term or phrase: flanc rectifié | From the description of a bicycle:
jante alu double paroi avec flancs rectifiés
At this point I have:
aluminium double-wall rim with *machined* sides
but this is generally used for flancs usinés
I think rectifié is the idea of grinding or resurfacing in metalwork, but cannot find these terms used in relation to rim sides.
This forum discussion (specifically dhej's entry) leads me to believe that usiné and rectifié are the same thing, but I would feel much better with a more reliable reference or explanation from a pro.

| | textured rim | Explanation: "Rectification" is grinding, and grinding, in the preliminary phases, leaves a rough surface.
Some wheel rims come with spots and grooves on them, so that the brake rubbers have something to bite on, even in the wet. I wouldn't say this texture is machined on (by grinding, at least), but rather by forging/pressing.
