Piece about a French rugby player who plays in either fly-half or scrum half. I'm guessing '(inside) hook', but it would be nice to hear from someone who knows their rugby!

cut inside

Explanation:
Although Andrew's suggestion is perfectly correct, I'm offering this alternative due to the presence of 'intérieur', as one can 'cut outside' too ('crochet extérieur').

swerve

Explanation:
http://www.passionovale.fr/dossiers/amelioration_du_crochet-...

Crocheter :

IOW, "interior" or "exterior" is meaningless, unless the guy can swerve only left (or right), in which case his crochet intérieur will only be d'enfer when his team is playing in the right (or left) direction.

My guess is it's the SWERVE:

But might be the sidestep:

I was about to post this, then saw that Andrew (who doesn't live in Mandres, does he?) had proposed "sidestep", so I took things a bit further :

However:
Here are a two prints from WWWakefield's book "Rugger" published in 1930 (at least, mine..) explaining the SIDE STEP ("CADRAGE DÉBORDEMENT" for my French ...

http://membres.lycos.fr/epsrugby/lexi.htm

So a cadrage-débordement and a crochet are two different things, and if the "rugby pioneers" site is correct, "sidestep" is cadrage-débordement.

The SWERVE is a great way of beating a defender who is close to making a tackle. It is NOT AS EXTREME AS THE SIDESTEP, but it is just as effective. ...

However, the def. above says that a crochet is a changement brutal d’orientation de course. How brutal is brutal though?
