I'd use 'continuous' Explanation: as I think that's what it is:-) |

continuous Explanation: If you make an Internet search with "analog continuous signal" you will see many examples. |

continuous analog signal. Explanation: The nature of the signal (analog) being more specific than "continuous", this would be the logical order. |

Continuous analog signal Explanation: Here are a few explanations that support this expression. An analog signal, by definition, is a continuous wave, as opposed to digital signal, wich is discrete. Here are a few quotes that explain a little: " What an analog signal looks like Analog signals are called continuous wave forms. Unlike discrete digital signals (1s and 0s), analog signals have a continuous pattern of multiple frequencies and amplitudes. The vocal cords of a human voice can generate sound waves that range from 50 Hertz (Hz) to 5,000 Hz" http://www.bell-labs.com/technology/analog/lookslike.html Here is a site that provides some good explanations. I am quoting here the paragraphs that are the most appropriate for this topic, but you can go and have a look at the whole page if you wish: " Signals are the electric or electromagnetic encoding of data suitable for the transmission medium. There are also two kinds of signals. Analog signal is a continuous varying electromagnetic wave that may be propagated over a variety of media. Digital signal is a sequence of voltage pulses that may be transmitted over a wire medium. Thus, there are four different combinations: using analog signal to transmit analog data or digital data; using digital signal to transmit analog data or digital data. Analog signal Analog signal is used in telephone systems. Analog signal, for example human beings sound, is a function of time. (...) Analog data, digital signal A process of converting analog data into digital form is known as digitization. The device used for converting analog data into digital form for transmission, and subsequently recovering the original analog data from the digital signals is known as a codec (coder-decoder). Pulse code modulation and delta modulation are two techniques used in codecs. The codec makes 8000 samples per second (125 $\mu$sec/sample) to convert a CONTINUOUS ANALOG SIGNAL into a digital bit stream. ...continuous analog voice signal... Explanation: In this context, the English version needs to include "voice" as part of the phrase. In full: "In fact, the continuous analog voice signal is first digitized and compressed," or "What happens first is that the continuous analog voice signal is digitized and compressed." Cheers, HC |
