French term or phrase: se positionner sur
In a patent relating to a utility used for extracting raw data and generation of objects therefrom: "... il exist au moins un noeud de type synchronization permetant de rechercher un noeud d'un langage de type mark-up prédéterminé afin de se positionner sur ledit noeud d'un langage de type mark-up."

It appears that this utility has its own tags that search the HTML webpage, find HTML tags and "se positinnent sur" them for carrying out the extraction and the generation of the object(s). For example, the object may be "film" consisting of the elements (membres) "titre", "mise en scène" and "festivals" each containing "raw data" that is extracted to create the object in the concerned utility.

Hope that helps!

Thanks very much,

position themselves over such tags
Explanation:
this looks like a description for a text parsing engine.

You could also say "position the file pointer" over such tags.

When a text file (and HTML is a text file) is parsed (read and analyzed) there is an internal file pointer that indicates the parser's curent position in the document. It can be advanced to a specified position in the file and reset to the beginning of the file. I bet this is the kind of mechanism that is described.
