Further info on my own question! Explanation: Thanks GOLUB! Here's a bit more info, as "pêche à la caille" is in fact a technique which comes under the heading of one of three types of "trolling" referred to in my text. For that reason I do not think "trolling" alone is sufficient. However, the "pêche au plomb" analogy is helpful. I can get round it in context although it would be helpful to have a specific term if one exists. My text cites 3 types of trolling techniques (pêche à la traîne): - traîne au fond - traîne de pleine eau - traîne en surface. I have terms for all three just not the specific one as mentionned. |

It describes a method of fishing which consists essentially in dragging through the water a bait or bright object to which a hook is attached.It is employed for the capture of predaceous surface-feeding fishes.
