It's for a company building cars. They are not talking about the license plate...they are talking about those little plates they put on parts to indicate who , where and how it was made.

Explanation:
I have often read ID tags for this. But I do not know if you want it to be more detailed, I mean if you want to say something such as ID and origin tags.

CE marking is affixed to registration and data plates

Explanation:

registration OR number plate = plaque d'immatriculation (TRANSPORT, GDT)

identification plate (AERONAUTICS)

"DATA PLATES" seems to be used in the CE marking context.

SEE (Internet):
Requirements with regard to the affixing of the CE marking logo
The CE marking must be affixed to the product, to its data plate or, where this is not possible or not warranted due to the nature of the product, to its packaging, if any, and to the accompanying documents by the manufacturer, the authorized representative in the Community or, in exceptional cases, by those responsible for placing the product on the market. The CE marking must be affixed visibly, legibly and indelibly. Where special provisions do not impose specific dimensions, it must have a height of at least 5 millimeters.

VIN plate

Explanation:
Got this info off my car registration. The "immatriculation" is a "Vehicle Identification Number" or VIN. It is placed on a small plate on the car body, right under the hood of the car. I suspect the "repérage" one is the "Body Number" plate. Evidently the Body Number plate is the one " attached to the front door hinge pillar."

Careful ! CE might need to stay "CE"

Explanation:
There was a question in here a few days ago on that very mark... the answers were particularly thorough and can be seen at:
http://www.proz.com/h.php3?bs=1&id=36385
In short and simplified form, the CE mark is more of a logo in this context...
