Pour chaque port, le sens de la ligne DCD est programmable dans le registre "DTE/DCE".

Pour chaque port, la fonction de la ligne est choisie au moyen d'un grain de soudure, conformément au tableau ci-dessous :

Explanation:
In electronics, "soudure" means solder, not welding !!!

You drop a spot of soldering tin, where you want to make a connection.

solder drop

Explanation:
When adding it to the proper place, this is a drop, as solder is liquid at this time, I guess it should be in French "une goutte de soudure", but it does become a grain a moment later when solidifying.
The confusion between soldering and welding is often made because in French both are translated with "soudure", MIG and arc welding are for example "soudure à l'arc" et "soudure MIG"; for electronics there is no doubt, this is soldering.
The article below mentions using a "goutte de soudure" instead of a jumper, which seems to the the point of the original sentence (this method is rather common for PICs):
http://perso.club-internet.fr/f5jtz/pjacquet/p-ardf.htm
"Il suffira lors de la mise en place des pointeuses, de mettre ou non un JUMPER ou une goutte de soudure entre 2 broches du PIC pour activer cette fonction."

solder spot

Explanation:
"Soudure" applies to both welding and soldering; however, there is a difference between the two in English, where welding is the joining of like metals by melting (800ºC+) and soldering is the joining of two unlike metals using another metal of inferior melting point (aluminum is a favourite). When working on plastics, electronic components and cards, I think it's pretty evident that you cannot subject the delicate kind of material used to 800ºC!

I agree wholeheartedly with my colleagues - this is solder, not weld, but I prefer particle to spot or drop...
