French term or phrase:métier
I've read the other KudoZ entries and don't think I've found the right term yet. This seems like something akin to a specific occupation, but also to an administrative division. Here's the context: an auto mfgr is implementing new IT software company-wide for the purposes of provisioning and logistics.
I like 'specialism' as it seems to combine the idea of an administrative entity with a skill set, which I think is the gist of it - but I don't know if it will work since that term seems to be used only in the UK. On the other hand, 'specialty' would work more generally but I don't know if it has as solid a scope as 'specialism.' Anyone want to weigh in?
