This comes from a user manual for a machine for sorting pharmaceutical tablets. I'm giving the whole paragraph so that you have as much context as possible:

Lorsque le comprimé présente deux faces gravées distinctes, il faut lever deux indéterminations : celle de la face en cours d’examen (face n°1 ou n°2) puis celle de l’angle présenté par le comprimé. On essaye successivement les deux analyses (pour chacune des faces) et on se retrouve dans la même situation déjà rencontrée pour la détermination définitive de l’orientation angulaire à savoir : l’angle et le traitement retenu seront ceux pour lequel le comprimé n’est pas défectueux.

This is one of those where it's easy to see what is being meant, much more difficult to translate it. Two undetermined factors have to be dealt with, checked out or determined (if you want to turn the original on its head a little!) Bob's ideas are clear. Two things have to be checked, but what has to be checked is known, namely both side of the tablet.

In a scientific translation is better to use a simple language. Hence, I would say "to clear up the indetermination..." or "to resolve the..."

You could also use lift or remove I suppose. I know this is maybe not the exact context, but I would use uncertainty here as in the following example it is the translation for indetermination.
