The issue is that the translation using Prepaid top=up card does not give the ENglish reader the idea of the card being stuck into the mobile phone, FYI..

Here:

The*** prepaid SIM card ****for France with a cell phone is the most convenient and economical solution for staying in touch while in France. All incoming calls, while in France are FREE, regardless of where they originate. Pay the local rate for local calls and use your cellular phone in France like you do at home. And unlike home, your France SIM card and cell phone service is prepaid so there is no need for a contract.

What's included?

Mistake: CMO is Compte Mobile Orange....that is not a mobicarte

it a regular cell phone billing thing...Compte Mobile Orange..Orange Cell Phone Account...but leave the French with the english in ( )

COmpte Mobile Orange (Orange Cell Phone Account), it;s one where you are billed monthly

Explanation:
Orange in France offers three basic types of service:

1) le forfait ajustable: a contract for at least one year, with upwards of 2 hours of calls per month at a certain rate, and any calls above that at a differentrate.

2) le compte mobile: basically a monthly contract (€20)for :
a) one hour of calls per month; above that, you get a prepaid card or top up your account by some other method
b) a simple monthly subscription (€15) to maintain your line and (I presume) receive calls, but to make calls you have to charge your account with prepaid cards etc.
c) another offer calle "Orange plug" that I don't understand!

3) mobicarte, the prepaid card system

So while CMO IS a sort of cellphone account, it is not THE standard sort of account, but has restrictions and a max. controllable cost.

I guess "postpayée" gives it away. The "standard" account would be your post-paid account (like normal land line subscriptions), the CMO would be the prepaid open but limited-time account, and Mobicarte the restricted prepaid card account.

agree  DocteurPC: quite a lot of differences here (Canada) but also many similarities - here you can have a fixed contract or a prepaid card or charge ad hoc when you want to add minutes to your phone
